Toer d’Amour — Brand Design & Illustration for the World’s First Walking Movie

Toer d’Amour is the world’s first Walking Movie—an interactive storytelling experience that unfolds through the streets of Amsterdam Sloterdijk, exploring the area’s past, present, and future through an engaging, playful experience. I contributed to the project by designing its visual identity and illustrations.

Instead of watching a film, participants walk it. Guided by bold heart-shaped markers and artworks, they unlock scenes via QR codes and follow host Grace through local stories, hidden places, and playful moments.

Blending technology, storytelling, and placemaking, Toer d’Amour turns the city into a living stage and invites people to see their surroundings in a new, more human way.

My Role: Brand Design & Illustration

For this project, my work was centered on defining the visual language that would carry the spirit of Toer d’Amour:

  • Visual Identity — Developing the brand’s look and feel to reflect the project’s core themes of discovery, love for place, and interactive storytelling — balancing vibrancy with a sense of wonder.

  • Illustrative Elements — Creating custom iconography and graphics that brought the hearts, characters, and route markers to life across both digital and physical touchpoints in the game.

  • Narrative Integration — Ensuring that every visual cue and illustration reinforced the emotional and exploratory arc of the walking movie — blending utility and delight.

The result: a visual ecosystem that feels as dynamic and inviting as the experience itself — one that encourages people to step out, look around, and fall a little bit in love with the world around them.
